ABOUT URAPUNTJA
Urapuntja Aboriginal Corporation is the peak advocacy body representing the people living on 16 Homelands located 250kms north-east of Alice Springs on the Alyawarra and Angarapa Aboriginal Land Trust (which covers 3,250 square kilometres).
Beyond advocacy, the Corporation is funded by the NT Government to provide basic housing maintenance and municipal services to what is collectively known as the Urapuntja Homelands. In addition it is the lead body in the delivery of the Stronger Communities for Children program, together with other essential social services such as Centrelink and Australia Post.
We have experienced significant positive change despite the global pandemic and natural disasters of the last 24 months. Now, we are seeking an innovative, yet pragmatic Chief Executive Officer to help us develop and implement more culturally and socially conscious leadership.
HEART & ROLE
The Chief Executive Officer is accountable to the Urapuntja Aboriginal Corporation Board of Directors for the development and implementation of the strategic direction of the organisation and organisational growth; developing funding streams and engaging with our communities.
Our CEO will be responsible for working with the board to identify continuing sources of revenue. Our community developed from many years of negotiations by Aboriginal people in order for them to have their own community services. Your directive will be to ensure this is reflected in our revised direction by working with the community-controlled Board of Directors.
This appointment will be on a full-time contract basis, allowing time for our incoming executive to lay boots on the ground and establish relationships with all our communities, departments, and their specific functionalities. You will lead a multi-disciplinary team with pride and passion.
OUR SUCCESSFUL CEO
- Is comfortable living remotely in diverse communities, is a highly competent communicator in cross-cultural environments;
- Has remote experience in management or as a CEO, ideally in advocacy for disadvantaged groups;
- Is equipped with relevant tertiary qualifications in business or a relevant field, or equivalent experience leading business functions at an executive level, and;
- Is lateral thinking and confident in their approach, with established decompression methods and robust emotional intelligence
You will also need to demonstrate significant experience working with a Board to establish effective governance processes; developing scalable projects and delivering effective outcomes. Familiarity liaising and stoically negotiating for Aboriginal &/or Torres Strait Islander businesses would be highly advantageous, but is not essential for the right candidate.
Additionally, you will be required to provide or be willing to obtain: a Northern Territory driver's licence, National Police History Check, and a Working With Children Check/OCHRE card. You must also be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 including your Booster.

Remuneration:
Earn an exceptional salary of approximately $150,000 (commensurate with skills and experience) PLUS super, 6 weeks annual leave and MORE!
